Strategy To Crack High paying Jobs for Tier 3 College Students
Big Tech companies like Google, Amazon & Microsoft are some of the few top tech companies in India. They are a dream destination for almost everyone in the software industry. I do not need to elaborate on their high packages, superb work culture, top notch perks and learning opportunities one can get. While students from tier 1 colleges might find it easy to get a job in these companies, students from not so well known colleges would find it hard to even get an interview scheduled. I would like to discuss a key strategy that many people miss that can help anyone make their entry into the high paying job club.
The strategy that I want to discuss is GATE. This exam will help you get into MTech Computer Science of top colleges in India. Once you have made your entry into a tier-1 institute, you will get 2 major benefits. One is the tag of that institute which will remain on your profile forever. The other is a chance to sit in placements. All the top tech companies of India come to these institutes for campus placements. You not only skip the queue for getting an interview scheduled but campus placements are also known to be easier than off campus hiring. Cherry on the cake is that studying in one of these institutes would not burn a hole in your pocket as opposed to going for a masters in the US.
Now you may ask, what about the competition ? I agree that there is a good amount of competition to crack GATE, but trust me, it is not as hard as JEE. So if you are comparing it with JEE, you should not do that. For GATE, there is no attempt limit, so you can give the exam multiple times while preparing on the side. The preparation can go on even if you are working a job, and you do not have any pressure to crack the exam within a certain number of attempts. Another good thing is that the curriculum for the GATE exam is the same as what you study in your B.Tech. days in Computer Science.
While I agree that the competition may seem daunting, do remember that nothing good comes easy. I have myself seen examples of people who were from not so known colleges. They cracked GATE, studied CS from tier 1 college and are now working in companies like Google. The preparation for GATE does not go waste even if you are unable to crack it, as that knowledge will also help you in your next job switch. Looking at all this, the strategy to get into tier 1 college via GATE is a very good strategy to get a high paying job.
